Meal plans or diet modification?

This will often come down to personal preference, but there are benefits to both ways.

MEAL PLANS

There are no mistakes with meal plans. This is what you eat, the amount you eat, and when you eat it.

ADVANTAGES

  • Structured

  • Clear to follow

  • Can help plan grocery shopping

  • Easy to make in advance

  • Can take the stress out of preparation

  • Can be time efficient

DISADVANTAGES

  • Too structured for some

  • Introduces new foods individuals may not want to eat

  • Can feel rigid

  • May be too time-consuming for some

DIET MODIFICATION

Diet modification refers to small changes made to your current diet to improve nutrient density.


ADVANTAGES

  • Not too dissimilar to an individual's regular diet

  • Doesn't require huge amounts of additional thought when grocery shopping

  • Not too rigid

  • Feel fairly familiar

  • Not too many changes at once

DISADVANTAGES

  • Not enough structure for some.

  • May encourage lazy planning

  • May not include all needed nutrients

  • May introduce new foods that individuals dislike.
