Breathwork & Ice Bath Workshop

Last weekend I ran my first-ever breathwork & ice bath workshop and it was an amazing success thanks to the ladies who took the plunge and jumped into 11°C water to prove to themselves that they really can do hard things. You can find a short video of the event on my Facebook page and Instagram reels and a few images below, shared with consent.

So why am I sharing this with you?

I don't think that we celebrate our wins often enough. There has been so much negativity in the world since 2020 so it is more important now than ever to stop and smell the roses and acknowledge the parts of our lives that are working. The parts of ourselves that are growing. Delivering this workshop definitely pushed the edges of my comfort zone, and the women who attended all pushed theirs. We live in a world that celebrates pushing ourselves in negative ways, but what about:

  • Positive growth?

  • Self-awareness?

  • What we actually need and want as individuals?

So here I am celebrating my wins and theirs. We shared so much joy on Sunday. We all supported one another. I felt held and supported by them and them by me. Life is beautiful when we come together as a strong community.

What are the benefits of cold water immersion?

Ice baths/cold water immersion is a powerful tool for pushing your edges. When performed in the right way for the right reasons, cold water can be extremely healing. Many traditional cultures and religions incorporate cold water immersion on a regular basis and it is known to strengthen the immune system, boost mood, reduce inflammation, stimulate and activate brown and beige fat, boost metabolism, build resilience, increase nervous system tolerance to stress and so much more.

Cold water immersion should always be conducted in a responsible manner, taking the individual into consideration at all times. Colder water does not necessarily equal increased health benefits and in fact, one study in the Netherlands found that people who switched to cold showers for 30, 60, or 90 seconds for 90 days called out sick from work 29% less than people who didn’t switch to cold showers. The minimum effective dose is in fact just 30 seconds, so it is achievable for most individuals.

When are the next events?

I am running 2 more cold water immersion events before the end of 2023. You can find all the details HERE. If you are keen to give it a try but are petrified, the Beginners Workshop is perfect for you to try it out in a safe and supportive space. The second event (Intermediate Level) is for those who have attended the beginner's workshop (or other ice bath events) and want to push a little harder. Both events are capped at 6 participants only. Send me a message HERE if you would like to learn more or ask me a question before attending.

BEFORE AN EVENT Before you attend a breathwork and/or ice bath session it is essential for you to look over THIS PAGE for more information about health contraindications. Certain health conditions may require medical clearance or special consideration before you can attend. You health and safety is my top priority.
